I have completed installing the grow lights in the orchid room. Connecting everything together was a little messy, and time consuming — but, it works! There is a noticable difference in the lighting intensity in the room, especially on the upper shelf against the south wall. This was my weakest light area, and now there is clearly more light.
It will take a while to evaluate if the plants like the extra light, or if it is too much. I can put dimmers in, but I don’t think it will be necessary. I plan to keep the lights on full time, 12 hours a day in the winter, and 16 hours a day in the summer. I may shut the lights off during the brightest part of the day in the summer, but we will evaluate that as we go along.
