When I started my orchid-room project, I had hoped that I could reproduce the cooler winter temperatures (and limited high summer temperatures) so that I could grow many intermediate, and some cool, orchids. My nobile dendrobiums needed a winter’s rest, along with cooler temperatures. As I had hoped, my orchid room gets down to 55 degrees easily at night during the winter months, and this seems to have benefitted the dendrobiums. I have several that are starting to bud (along with the Sea Mary ‘Snow King’ which is in bloom).
The picture is of Dendrobium Fancy Lady ‘Royal Princess’. I have two of these, and both are in bud.
