Psychopsis Papilio var alba is in bloom

Psychopsis060316.JPGMy Psychopsis Papilio var alba is in bloom.  I purchased this orchid from an international vendor at the San Francisco Orchid Show in February.  It initially had one tall spike, and is now growing another.  There are 2+ pseudobulbs, and (since it was bare root when I purchased it), I planted it in S/H right away.  It has been sitting in the southeast corner of the orchid room, and will remain there.

It looked to be starting a bloom several times, but would get a small bud, and then drop it.  Finally, a couple of weeks ago, a stronger bud appeared, and this quickly matured into the flower.

Pretty cool!
