I purchased this Cologyne Frimbriata at the Sacramento Orchid Society’s auction on October 5th. It was initially planted in bark in a small clay pot, and had significantly outgrown the pot. It is a rambling plant, and the clay pot was not a good solution.
I divided the plant into two sections, each healthy, and planted them both in an 8″ net pot, swirling the long rhyzhomes around the edges of the pot. I decided that this may be a good solution, as the spaghnum moss will keep it relatively wet, and I can continue to spiral it around the pot.
It is a sequential bloomer. From the online literature, it looks like it will bloom mostly in the fall, have several sequential blooms, then stop blooming in the winter. It currently has two blooms (only one old bloom shown in this picture). When this old bloom died off, it was replaced by a new one quickly.
