Cochleanthes Amazonica ‘El Dorado’

Cochleanthes112916.JPGI purchased this Cochleanthes Amazonica ‘El Dorado’ at the Gold Country Orchids open house on November 17.  Alan had several of these in his second greenhouse, and they were in full bloom.  Mine is not in bloom, but has two new growths, and should grow into a very nice plant.

This plant originates from the Amazon basin, and needs intermediate to warm temperatures and shady conditions.  It should do well in the solarium or the orchid room.

It is currently planted in sphagnum moss, but was in a very small clay pot, and I repotted it into a larger pot, with new sphagnum moss.
