Coelogyne Mooreana ‘Brockhurst’ is in bloom

Mooreana121216.JPGI purchased this Coelogyne Mooreana ‘Brockhurst’ from eBay vendor “letstalkplants”, it was delivered on Friday, April 15, and is now in bloom. It was potted in a 6″ net pot, and it has been hanging in the solarium since it was delivered.  I moved it under the easternmost skylight about a month ago, and it immediately started producing a spike.

It has only one flower at present, but clearly has another coming behind it.  According to the AOS website,

The erect inflorescence is 15-20 inches tall and emerges from between the leaves of new growths before the pseudobulbs have formed. Three to eight large, fragrant flowers up to 3-4 inches (7-10cm) are produced per inflorescence.

…which means that I should expect more flowers.  We’ll see.
