Scaphosepalum Decorum

Decorum042117.JPGI purchased this Scaphosepalum Decorum from Fragrant Orchids of Maui on my visit to their greenhouses on April 18, 2017.  Their greenhouses are mostly used for a local wholesale orchid business, but buried in the back was a beautiful Scaphysepalum Decorum.  The plant was in flower, and has several stems that hint that it is a sequential bloomer.

These are cool to intermediate growers that like to stay slightly wet.  Under good conditions, they should stay in bloom most of the year, blooming successively on upright inflorences. They generally produce a flush of growth in the spring, with single growths coming throughout the year.  They like fine bark mixes.

I will let this one sit in its current bark mix and let it adapt to my environment.
