Cochlioda Sanguinea

IMG_4187.JPGI acquired this Cochlioda Sanguinea from Bob Hamilton on my visit to his greenhouse on May 7, 2015.  It is one of six known Central American species of cochlioda, and blooms bubblegum pink with 3/4-inch blooms on delicate pendant sprays.  It is a high-altitude species and should be grown in a cool environment.

The plant is in spike.

This will be a difficult plant to flower in my environment, but a challenge…
